WHO WE ARE
Toyokana is a nonprofit organization founded in 2025 by Praxedes Bongibo, born from a deep conviction: that the children of the African diaspora have a responsibility to unite their strengths and resources to actively contribute to the development of the African continent.
It is from this vision that Toyokana was created, with a particular commitment to supporting the Democratic Republic of Congo by mobilizing the skills, talents, and dedication of the Congolese diaspora, as well as the international community, in service of sustainable, people-centered, and impactful projects.
The name Toyokana, which means "Let us understand one another," "Let us listen to one another," and "Let us come to an agreement," reflects the very essence of the organization: creating a space for dialogue, listening, collaboration, and collective action to promote sustainable and inclusive development.
Toyokana aspires to become much more than an organization. Its goal is to build a movement capable of connecting the knowledge, expertise, and energy of the African diaspora around a shared vision: contributing to the emergence of stronger, more self-sufficient communities.
Through its initiatives, Toyokana seeks to advance community empowerment, mental health, education, and sustainable development.
