About TOYOKANA

TOYOKANA is a nonprofit organization founded in 2025 by Praxedes Bongibo, driven by the belief that members of the African diaspora have a vital role to play in the sustainable development of the African continent. By pooling their knowledge, resources, and expertise, they can make meaningful contributions toward building a more prosperous future for generations to come.

Our Mission

Our mission is to mobilize the Congolese diaspora, local partners, and the international community to design and support sustainable initiatives that improve the quality of life of communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo. We promote a collaborative approach centered on community empowerment and the implementation of high-impact, sustainable solutions in key sectors such as education, healthcare, economic development, agriculture, mental health, and community development.

Our Vision

We envision a Democratic Republic of Congo where local talent, supported by an engaged diaspora and international partners, works together to build resilient, self-sufficient, and thriving communities. Our ambition is to contribute to a sustainable development model founded on collaboration, shared responsibility, and long-term social impact investments that create lasting change.

Our Values

The name TOYOKANA, which means "Let us understand one another," "Let us listen to one another," and "Let us come to an agreement" in Lingala, reflects the identity and core values of our organization. It embodies our belief that sustainable development begins with dialogue, collaboration, mutual respect, and solidarity among people.

Guided by the principles of integrity, inclusion, innovation, empowerment, and accountability, we are committed to bringing together local communities, the Congolese diaspora, and international partners around a shared vision.
