Our programs
Toyokana designs programs that address human, social, and community challenges in the Democratic Republic of Congo while mobilizing the skills, resources, and commitment of the Congolese diaspora and international communities.
" Words on Wounds"
Words for Wounds is a TOYOKANA initiative dedicated to making psychological and emotional support more accessible to communities across the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
This program brings together a network of qualified French-speaking therapists, psychologists, counselors, and mental health professionals from around the world. By volunteering a few hours of their time each week, these professionals provide listening sessions, guidance, and support to individuals facing emotional, family, social, or psychological challenges.
In a context where access to mental health services remains limited for a large portion of the population, Words for Wounds seeks to build a bridge between the expertise of the diaspora and the needs of local communities. Through communication technologies and a network of committed volunteers, we connect beneficiaries with qualified professionals who can offer compassionate listening, appropriate guidance, and referrals to relevant resources when needed.
Our mission is to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, promote emotional well-being, and remind every individual that they do not have to face their struggles alone.
Because a listening ear can sometimes change a life, Words for Wounds transforms solidarity into meaningful action in support of the well-being of the Congolese people.
