Volunteer French-Speaking Psychologist / Therapist (Remote, 2–5 Hours per Week)

Action for "Words for Wounds"

Volunteers in the Words for Wounds program dedicate their professional expertise to serving communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo by providing free online listening sessions, psychological support, and emotional guidance. Their mission is to promote the mental well-being of individuals facing challenges such as trauma, violence, forced displacement, conflict, stress, or social isolation.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Master's degree in Psychology or a related field (Clinical Psychology, Counseling, Mental Health, Therapy, Social Work, Psychiatry, or an equivalent discipline).

  • Have at least two (2) years of professional experience in psychological, psychosocial, or therapeutic support.

  • Be fluent in French, both spoken and written.

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the socio-economic and cultural realities of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

  • Have awareness of issues related to trauma, forced displacement, refugees, victims of violence, armed conflict, grief, poverty, and community resilience.

  • Possess strong listening skills, empathy, and a deep respect for human dignity.

  • Commit to upholding the principles of confidentiality, professional ethics, and non-discrimination.

  • Be willing to dedicate a few hours per week, on a voluntary basis, to listening to and supporting program beneficiaries.
